the curse of the divine

Do you want to discover your divine qualities? They are really not so hidden. It is a commonplace to hear that humans have the opportunity to discover their divine nature and so end their suffering. The assumption is that although we are gifted with divine attributes, they are somehow latent and unused, waiting to be discovered. Whilst this may be true of certain aspects of the divine, it is not true over all. If the human is divine then it must be expressed in every act, for how can the divine be hidden? The great difference between humans and animals are consciousness and reason, the ability to think. Without presuming to know God, we may assume that consciousness and reason are either uniquely human attributes or divine ones. They cannot be unique to humans for that would mean that we have attributes that the divine lacks, so consciousness and reason are of divine nature. Humans are gifted with free will as a result of their consciousness, that is our divinity. Free will is expressed every time we make a conscious choice, to make a conscious choice is to exercise a divine power. So each time we go to war, or plan to commit a murder, or ignore our fellow humans suffering, we are acting in a divine manner. We are not divine when we lash out in rage or when we are drunk or when we are asleep. When we incarcerate our fellow humans, when we pollute the earth, when we base our actions on calculated choices, we are in touch with our divinity. We are also divine when we forgive, when we have compassion, when we go out of our way to help the needy and serve the poor. God is love, but God is also consciousness. To find the God in you, look around at the choices you make.

About the naked human

the naked human is what we are underneath. When we shed our thoughts and look calmly in the mirror upon the light of the soul. Peace and Love.
